Ranveer Singh was a lean guy, till he signed up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela. Suddenly, the maverick actor seemed to undergo a transformation. Months later, when he showed off his dance moves in Tattad Tattad, all everyone – guy or girl – could think of was that killer body. Is it even possible to get a ripped body like Ranveer’s? Why not?

Ranveer’s body is what we term an “I” type body, which generally has a longer but narrow skeleton structure. People with this body type generally have more lean muscles and less fat due to their high rate of metabolism. They usually also tend to have a very good upper body structure paired with relatively weak legs. Perhaps that’s why all magazines only flash pictures of Ranveer’s upper body and not his lower body.

To get a body like Ranveer’s isn’t easy. It requires dedication, discipline and commitment. Get into a high intensity, high volume, body-building style exercise routine that covers all the major muscles like chest, shoulders, back, arms, abs and legs.

A sample workout to get a body similar to him is:
  • Chest: 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets, 8-12 Reps
  • Back: 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets, 8-12 Reps
  • Shoulders: 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets, 8-12 Reps
  • Arms: 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets, 8-12 Reps
  • Legs: 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets, 8-12 Reps
  • Abs: 2-3 exercises, 3-4 sets, 8- 20 Reps

Keep in mind what Ranveer said about his training in an interview after Ram Leela.

“The process was called Drastic Transformation Program (DTP). I had to work out one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. I would work out at 5 in the morning, start shooting from 9, shoot for the entire day till 6 pm and then return to work out for an hour again. One hour in the morning was cardio to burn fat. In the evening, he [my trainer] would take one muscle and obliterate it. He would then come back to that muscle after a week, in which time it would have rested. The diet was super strict and was 80 per cent of the program, the balance 20 per cent being the training.”
